Absolute Eye, 2015/16

Die Ausstellung "absolute eye" von Elisabeth Hölzl fand im Rahmen des Südtirol Classic Festivals und den Initiativen von Kunst Meran und der Salzburger Universität Mozarteum anlässlich des 70. Geburtstages der bekannten Meraner Kostümbildnerin Frida Parmeggiani statt. Seit Jänner 2015 hat Elisabeth Hölzl den Entstehungsprozess der Kostümabstraktionen Frida Parmeggianis fotografisch begleitet. Ihre Fotostrecke beginnt in Fridas Wohnung und spannt den Bogen bis zur Fertigstellung der Kostüme. Das faszinierende daran ist die unterschiedliche Perspektive von zwei Künstlerinnen, die sich in der Präzision des Lichtes und in der Klarheit der Formen treffen.

 

In Frida Parmeggiani’s apartment, white dominates everything. Dry twigs and leaves have been arranged on low furniture, before light-colored, pictureless walls. Bereft of their original surroundings, they become filigree sculptures in space. Thorns and prickles recover in the white. Pressed blossoms in smoky purple-bloodred, in soft, faded ocher, have been preserved in a series of sketchbooks. A color archive of nature that an absolute eye has seen and collected. Levity and precision as well as a stringent connection to images of nature, filtered out of the chaos of life, are the golden thread in Frida’s oeuvre. At the end of this work, the twigs finally meet the fabric, the white turns into black, a stage, before which the garments arise in new light.
